On Daffodil Day, April 27th, I will....

On Daffodil Day, I will have a good long chat with my wonderful Aunt!

Roughly two years ago, my dear aunt was diagnosed with breast cancer. This was not the first time that someone in my family had received news that they would have to face this devistating disease head on. When I was 5 years old, my Grandfather passed away from bone cancer after a long an painful battle. It broke my heart when got word that my Auntie Donna was going to have to go through her own cancer journey.
Thankfully, the lump that was found was removed and because it was in it's early stages, my aunt did not need any further treatment. Everyone in my family was so grateful that Donna's cancer was diagnosed early enough to avoid chemo and radiation treatment. Of course, she has to go for regular screening to ensure that the cancer has not returned but for now, everything is looking good!
I believe that at times, a disease comes into our lives to help us to change and see things differently. For me, my aunt's diagnosis was yet another reason for me to learn to appreciate life and live in the present moment. Everybody's life is a gift and I am so grateful that I am still able to experience the presence of my wonderful aunt in this lifetime! That's why on daffodil day, I am going to call my aunt and have a good, long chat with her!
