MY MOM - My Strength, My Encouragement, My Rock, My Teacher, My Mentor, My Idol - MY MOM

Let me put it out there bluntly. My mom has cancer. We found that out just before Christmas in 2008, only a few short months ago. Last week we just found out her prognosis is terminal. She has less than a year to live. It SUCKS BIG TIME, and I hate it with every ounce of hatred I can muster.

The doctors say "accept it". They say that there is nothing anyone can do to change the situation. WRONG! The Canadian Cancer Society's Relay for Life has given my mom a purpose in these next coming months. Our team dedicated in her name, "In Karen's Shoes", has become her personal crusade to fight back. This is something WE CAN DO!

I am relaying not only to raise funds for cancer research to end this emotionally and physically crippling disease for all of our loved ones affected by it, BUT THIS IS WHAT MAKES MY MOM HAPPY!

I need all of you to understand, my mom checks this website out hourly! It's left on her computer all day long. She pulls support from it when there is any new activity. A new sponsor, a new team member is a new message of hope and encouragement and strength.

The excitement that comes over my mom from each single act of donating no matter what amount is so POWERFUL! She literally jumps with enthusiasm, and calls me to say that our team just got stronger! This excitement that my mom exudes is the mom I've known and loved all my life. She is a go-getter, a strong, spiritual, brave woman. This crusade of hers brings her back to her best self, a fighter.

I am asking each one of you individually to please sponsor me. Why? Because when my mom sees it, and being my mom she sees EVERYTHING, her strength gets that much stronger, her will that much more determined! This cause is giving me back MY MOM! This is who she is!

It is thanks to YOU supporting "In Karen's Shoes" that YOU are making my mom happy and joyous in a time that I didn't think anything could.
YOU are making a difference in HER life, in ALL of our lives.
YOU are giving the one greatest gift in the world to my mom... strength, encouragement, and support.
