Survivor inspired by Cohyn Joel

As a "Survivor" receiving many miracles since my diagnosis, I am forever changed by little 2 1/2 year Cohyn Joel's loss of life from cancer. His 17 month journey brings many life lessons and reasons to fight each day.

Diagnosed in 2005, I was blessed to quickly have surgery, only to wake in the morning with the news of my father's passing (in another hospital).

During my six months of treatments, I learned of Cohyn's great struggles which he handled "like a walk in the park", his mom said. Cohyn's journey started at 14 months old, until the day he "flew out" of the hospital at 3:45 a.m. on December 23, 2008.

His story, pictures and messages from his mom (through CaringBridge) are engraved in my heart and soul. 2008 was my first Relay ever and during the survivor's reception, I prayed that Cohyn would some day stand on that stage and give his story. He is now unable to, but I promised to tell his story for him, with the help of his parents.

Never forgetting Cohyn, and always praising God that Cohyn is with Him at a hockey game!
