I have walked in three Relay For Life events in my community, "just because", but this past year cancer hit a lot closer to home and so I'm highly motivated to see an end to this wretched disease.

I have had a few uncles die from various forms of cancer, and my husband has lost several aunts and uncles as well. Two years ago my father-in-law, who survived three major heart attacks, was diagnosed with bladder cancer and is winning the fight against that.

Last year my only sister, who has consistently fought her way to the top through an abusive marriage, five back surgeries, and financial hard times, was diagnosed with breast cancer. Through chemo and radiation she is battling with all her might - I can't imagine the physical and emotional toll this is taking on her. I don't live near to her; can't be with her to support her in person, so this walk is my way of cheering her on.

You go, little sister, and God and I will be with you all the way!
