Why I Relay
This year will mark the first time I will participate in a Relay for Life.
This year will mark the first time I will participate in a Relay for Life. I am participating in this year's Relay for Life in Stittsville for different reasons. The first reason I am doing this, and probably the most important, is for close family friends who fought a tough, hard battle with different types of cancer, but sadly passed away. I will always have great memories of these people. They were like my family growing up as a youngster and even into my young adult years. As a kid, I did not know anything about cancer. My family never talked about it with me. It was not until I grew up that I began to learn about this illness and how it affects one's life.
I am participating in the Relay for Life because it allows me to remember them in a very special way. I know they are in a wonderful place right now, a place where they are safe and loved in the most unimaginable way.
The second reason I am participating in this year's Relay for Life is because I truly believe that if we keep raising funds for cancer research, some day we will find the cure for cancer.
A single hope, yet one that gives us great opportunity to make a difference.
The Relay also provides people the opportunity for people to get together and join in unity and as a community. It's not something we see often in this day and age; but it's something we should definitely see a lot more of. We are all together in the fight against cancer.
