Fighting For My Family

Fighting For My Family
Fighting For My Family

I am 58yrs old and I have started my second family. I have two small girls at home 4-5yrs old. They are just starting school and I want to see and help them graduate from college.

In November 2009, I was diagnosed with NON- Hodgkin’s Mantle Cell Lymphoma - Stage 4. I went through 8 rounds of chemo and was in remission for 1 year. The Lymphoma came back more aggressive and was wrapped around my trachea causing breathing and swallowing problems. In August of 2011 I have been through two rounds of R-Dhap chemo In September and October 2011. I am now a candidate for stem cell transplants (Autogenic). I have to travel to Halifax for treatments now as PEI does not have enough oncologists to be able to have in hospital care 24hrs surveillance. This adds much stress and financial burden to my family which has influenced my decisions for treatment. I would like to talk to the PEER SUPPORT Groups to meet people in similar circumstance
