FUNdraising for cancer once a year is a small price to pay to help find a cure!

Growing up I hadn't heard much of cancer other then my mom mentioning her friend Daphne who had died of it. Then that word came around again when my best friend Cindy's mom was diagnosed. It was pretty traumatic for us. Cancer took over her life. Years later my mom lost another friend, Regina. Ten years ago I was asked to emcee a 12 hour fundraiser called the Relay for Life to raise money for cancer research. I happily agreed and also joined the committee. A few other moms of committee members have been sadly taken from us over the years. I can't imagine losing my mom and though she walked the survivor walk in Thompson now lives in Newfoundland and I know her heart will be with us on April 28th as we raise money for research. I will think of Cindy's mom and my other best friend Karen's mom who fought so hard to survive and lost the fight. For all the moms we've lost. Wally's dad and too many others to mention. It's just so maddening when we stop and think of all the lives taken from us by such a killer. Cancer will not win! We will continue to fundraise. We will never give up the fight and thanks to the people of Thompson who give not only their hearts to help survivors survive but they give from their pockets and in our 10th year we plan on reaching our goal of 1 million dollars in 10 years. Please help us find a cure for cancer! To all of you fighting for your lives...don't give up...a cure is coming! Mom, I love you!
