I remember the year like it was yesterday - January 2007

I remember the year like it was yesterday - January 2007. It was suppose to be a year of new opportunities, promise and enjoyment of being a newlywed as I had just got married July 2006.
What is the quote: The best laid plans?"

My life and the life of my family took such a dramatic turn in January - the words that still bring me to tears "Are you sitting down, we have something to tell. Dad has been diagnosed with prostate cancer as well as a secondary cancer in his proastate and he will need to have surgery. Apparently my parents knew before Christmas, but did not want to ruin our Christmas with sad news.
I remember going into auto piolt and going into what I call my "PSW" role - I worried about him and what he needed rather than deal with the fear and emotions just waiting to flood over the gates of my heart. I remember finding all information and books on cancer etc. to help my dad through this.
Flash forward to 2012 and it has been 5 years since and THANK GOD he is cancer free.. So why do I relay? This year is my first year and I do first to honor TOM HEWITT and second to celebrate that we have had more years with birthdays with him.
