The Wind Beneath My Wings

The Wind Beneath My Wings

Not a day goes by that she dose not cross my mind. she truly is my hero, I love and miss her so much every day! xox

My name is Vanessa, I lost my hero on April 12th 2003 to a monster called cancer. MY mother, Terry, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2000 when I was in the 2ed grade I have a younger sister and brother as well but I'm not them so I don't know their way of interpreting a story. She spent about 6 months in the hospital with a full recovery, or so we thought. For the next two years my mother lived with a single cancer cell in the back of her left shoulder blade. January 2003 on the 13th my mother, Nana, brother, sister, and I, took a nice family trip down to Disney World for a week’s stay. That's when everything became a nightmare. Second day in my mother had no energy could not explain why she couldn't walk or anything. When we got home we brought her right to the hospital and found out that the cancer cell that was hiding had exposed her whole body. She was giving 4 weeks in her condition. She made it 4 months until a week before my birthday, that's when she left. I was 9 years old about to turn 10 and remember blowing out my birthday candles at the funeral home on a Wednesday night before the evening service.
