I Relay because I want to fight back !
I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer in June 2010! When I heard the words Shauna yes you have cancer all I know is the room went black and my head was spinning! Nobody should ever have to hear those words! On August 5th 2010, I had to have a full hysterectomy to remove the gold ball sized tumor (5 days before my 36th birthday)! I was lucky I didn’t have any treatments!
I did my first Relay in June 2011! When I walked that Victory Lap I would never have thought that there was actually this many people going through this! I am doing the Relay in June 2012, because not only am I a survivor, but 6 months after my surgery my mother was diagnosed with uterine cancer and had a full hysterectomy and treatments! She will be walking the Victory Lap with me this year! Maybe just maybe we can put an end to this disease and no one else will ever hear those three words
