I walk...

I wrote this very brief summary to share the many reasons why I choose to walk and raise money for this much needed cause. Cancer has affected my life in so many ways and this story only shares a fraction of them.

I walk...
In honour and in memory of my great grandmother, diagnosed at age 75 with ovarian cancer and was a survivor until she passed away at age 97.
I walk...
In honour of my grandfather, diagnosed with skin cancer many years ago and is over 20 years a survivor!
I walk...
In memory of my grandmother, diagnosed with lung cancer in July 2000 and lost her battle just a couple of months later, in September 2000.
I walk...
In honour of my mother, diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2002, and almost 9 years a survivor!
I walk...
In honour and memory of my grandfather, diagnosed with melanoma many years ago, and was a survivor until he passed away from heart disease in 2005.
I walk...
In memory of my dad, diagnosed with melanoma in 2004 and lost his battle a year and a half later in May 2006 at age 56.
I walk...
In honour of two of my great uncles, a pair of brothers, diagnosed with prostate cancer and are both survivors.
I walk...
In memory of my uncle, diagnosed with lung cancer in July 2010 and lost his battle only a few months later in November 2010 at age 60.
I walk...
In memory of my cousin, diagnosed with cancer in 2007, and lost her battle in 2010 at age 50.
I walk...
In honour of my sister, diagnosed with breast cancer in March 2011 at age 39, and is currently on her journey to her survivor walk...
For everyone whose lives have been affected by cancer...I walk.
Help me raise money, because we all love someone who's been down this road.
In honour, and in memory.
Joni Banks
