I relay to bring hope to others!
I found a lump in my right breast on May 21, 2008. I had a lumpectomy on June 25, 2008. It was a fight between me and cancer after that...I won! I encourage anyone who wants to listen that cancer is not a death sentence anymore.
The past four years have been both a blessing and a hardship. It has been a blessing because I'm still here and in seemingly good health. It has been a hardship because it has taken a toll on my loved ones. The battle with cancer is still ongoing because I'm still seeing doctors, getting scars removed or repaired, taking medications and having to be careful of certain things such as foods that don't jive with medications and the emotional and physical strains it has put on me and my family. I am optimistic that everything is going to be great and I want to encourage people who do find out they have cancer that there are people out there to help you through it. Sharing your concerns with people helps relieve tensions and fears...don't feel you have to do it alone...
