Scary Time

My brother was diagnosed with a rare form of stage 4 malignant melanoma.

Last year my brother was having problems with his gallbladder.  He had put it off for awhile as he didn’t want to have surgery. He finally had enough of the pain and problems so he went in to have it removed. A few weeks later he got a call, they had found several melanomas on his gallbladder which we are told is very rare for the gallbladder to be infected with cancer. He was then told he had stage 4 malignant melanoma. They found the originating cause, a mole on his arm; they removed all the moles that they thought it may be. At a later date he had a surgery that cut him open and removed any tissue that was around and may have been in contact with that gallbladder. They also removed a piece of his liver that they thought had been affected, it turns out it was fine. It has been almost a year since he’s been diagnosed and he is in remission right now, however it is stage 4 and a rare case so we have no idea what is going to come next. We are trying to stay positive. It has changed his life, for the better in a lot of ways.  He takes nothing for granted and lives every minute to the fullest!  He is even working part time as a rip line tour guide, wants to have as much fun as he can for whatever time he has left. I am very proud of him!
