In the Blink of an Eye

In the Blink of an Eye
In the Blink of an Eye

My best friend Ashley-Lynn's mother was diagnosed with cancer of the liver early this year and sadly lost her fight on March 25, 2010. Heather Cooke was a bright, beautiful woman with so much to offer the world and her life will never be forgotten.

Heather Cooke was someone whom I always regarded as beautiful, classy, a little eccentric, but a heck of a lot of fun. Her bright smile and infectious good nature made it hard not to love her from the moment I met her. She treated me like another daughter and it was always a great time when she was around. I was fortunate enough to be honoured with an invitation to her wedding in June 2008 and she was one of the most beautiful brides I have ever seen. I felt and still feel blessed to have been a part of her day sharing in the joy with her daughter and my best friend Ashley-Lynn.
I still remember the phone call when I heard the news about Heather's diagnosis. She was in a lot of pain and though she did everything medically possible, the cancer was very strong and she ultimately lost her battle. Her fight only lasted a few short months (thank goodness for small favours) and it seemed that she was here and then gone in the blink of an eye.
I now know after joining in celebrating her life with her closest friends and family members that she no longer suffers and must be happy where she is. I have such a strong feeling that she is watching over her daughter and grandson Duncan. Heather was a great friend and I though I am sad that she is gone, I am strengthened in knowing that I relay for her and everyone else I know that has been touched by this terrible disease.
