Wedding page

Q: Who can set up a wedding celebration page?
A: Anyone who wishes to celebrate their marriage can set-up a wedding celebration webpage.

Q: What do I need to create a personal wedding page?
A: All you really need is a few minutes to go through the set-up process online. If you want to embellish your personal wedding page, you are able to add a personal message and some pictures to share with your visitors.

Q: Is there a cost to set up a wedding page?
A: No, there is no cost to set up a wedding page. Although we kindly ask that you will help us fund our mission to eradicate cancer and enhance the lives of people living with cancer by raising money through your wedding page. A start-up online donation is encouraged when establishing your wedding page.

Q: Who can visit a personal wedding page?
A: Anyone with a computer and Internet access will be able to visit your webpage.

Q: Can I make my personal wedding page private?
A: Yes, you can choose to make your wedding page private when you sign up. If you have already signed-up go to My Wedding Site (Champion centre) and click on Edit Settings. There is a check off box that says Private Fund, make sure that is checked off in order to make your website private.

Q: If my website is private, how do my friends and family find my wedding site?
A: Use the easy and free e-vite tools in My Wedding Site (Champion centre) to send your friends and family an invitation to your wedding site. You can also create a personalized web address (URL) and let your friends and family know what the web address is so they can access it.

Q: What can visitors do on a wedding page?
A: Most visitors come to a wedding page to honour the happy couple by making an online donation to the Canadian Cancer Society. However, it’s not mandatory to make a donation with every visit to the site. Visitors can view a personal wedding page, add comments to the guest book and refer others to the website.

Q: How do I find a couple's specific wedding page?
A: Since each personal wedding page has its own distinct URL (website address), it’s easy to find a specific couple. When visitors arrive at the Wedding Celebration homepage, they will be able to search for the specific couple by name.

Q: How do visitors make an online donation?
A: They will be guided through a fast, easy, and secure donation process where they simply enter their name and address, together with the number and expiry date of their Visa, MasterCard or American Express credit card.

Q: How can I tell how much money has been raised through my wedding page?
A: There is a graphic on each wedding page which shows how much money has been raised, making it easy to check how your wedding page is doing. You also have the option of setting a fundraising goal, and you can check your progress at any time.

Q: Do donors get tax receipts?
A: All donors will receive an electronic tax receipt by e-mail immediately following their donation.

Q: Where do online donations go?
A: Funds donated online through personal wedding pages are used to support the overall work of the Canadian Cancer Society. We fund the best research and our support programs help local patients and their families at a time when they are scared and under a great deal of stress. We also educate people on ways to reduce cancer risk and put cancer-related issues on the political agenda.

Q: How long does my wedding page last?
A: Each wedding page remains posted on the website indefinitely, unless you ask us to remove the page, or if the activity on the page significantly declines. We will contact you before taking any action with your wedding page.

Q: How will we be able to add content and update our site?
A: You can log in and update your wedding page 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Q: How many photos can we upload to our site?
A: Unlimited. You can upload multiple photos at once and organize them into as many albums as you wish.

Q: Can I use the personal wedding page to promote my community event?
A: We are thrilled that you are supporting the Canadian Cancer Society with your efforts. The Wedding Celebration site has been set up to honour a couple or a special occasion. To promote a particular event, we ask that you use our personal fundraising events program that has been designed specifically for personal and community events.

Wedding materials

Q: Can I include a personal message inside the card to my guests?
A: Yes, the Wedding Celebration Program allows you to customize these cards specifically to your needs. You can print your own personalized message using your desired font and ink colour to coordinate with your other wedding materials. Our linen inserts go through any home printer. Our gift cards allow you to further customize the card to your wedding colour scheme by using your own ribbon.

Q: Is there any assembly required with the cards?
A: Yes, the cards are easily assembled and we will provide you with a sample for you to use as a guide when assembling the cards. The cards come with inserts that can be printed with your own personal message to your guests. Depending on whether you’ve selected the place card or gift card, the insert is then fastened to the card using a decorative ribbon or elastic.

Q: Can the cards be used for other special occasions?
A: Yes, in addition to weddings, cards can be used for any number of special occasions including anniversaries, holiday parties, birthdays, retirements, bar/bat mitzvahs, confirmations and first communions.

Q: When should I order the wedding materials?
A: We suggest that you order the wedding materials at least 4 weeks prior to your wedding or special occasion to ensure that we have the stock available to cover your needs and to allow you plenty of time for printing and assembly.

Q: Do I get a tax receipt for my full amount?
The gift cards, place cards and reception certificates are receipted for the full amount. The bookmarks and thank you cards are considered a product and by CRA guidelines only the additional donation will be receipted. Once your order is processed, you will be contacted by a representative of the Canadian Cancer Society to confirm your shipping information.

Q: Is there a minimum donation for these materials?
To order these materials online, there is a minimum donation listed on each item, with an opportunity to add more to your donation before checking out. Often people consider spending between $5 and $10 per guest on wedding favours and make their donation accordingly. We appreciate your support. Every dollar makes a difference.

Q: Is there a cost for these materials?
A: Yes; however, your generous donation will cover that cost. These materials are our way of recognizing your gift to the Canadian Cancer Society. Your donation allows the Canadian Cancer Society to continue to:

  • Fund the best research projects in the country on all types of cancer.
  • Offer information services and support programs to people living with cancer and their families at a time when they need it most.
  • Put cancer-related issues on the political agenda.

Your generous donation will make our fight against cancer even stronger.
