When pesticides are used to improve the appearance of lawns and gardens to control unwanted weeds and plants, it is referred to as cosmetic use of pesticides. The Canadian Cancer Society is very concerned about the cosmetic and non-essential use of potentially cancer-causing substances on green spaces, and is calling for a ban on the use and sale of cosmetic pesticides.
