We've done a lot over the years
The first Relay For Life in Canada was held in 1999 and raised $85,000. Since then, Relay has raised over $496.5 million nationally. Relay For Life continues to be Canadian Cancer Society’s largest fundraising program, helping make more impact, against more cancers, in more communities.
- 487 Relay For Life events took place across Canada raising $46.5 million.
- 161,746 Canadians participated on 16,224 teams.
- 33,252 celebrated their survival at Relay.
- 28,311 volunteers made it happen.
Last year the Canadian Cancer Society celebrated its 75th anniversary. We would like to thank all our 2013 Relay For Life participants who took part in the 75th Anniversary contest and to our generous sponsors who made this contest possible. A complete list of winners can be found here.
Relay For Life is an inspiring, community-based, 12-hour fundraising event. The non-competitive Relay involves teams of 10-15 people who take turns walking or running around a track overnight. Relay provides a festival-like atmosphere with entertainment and activities for all ages. Teams of co-workers, neighbours, families and friends come together to celebrate survivors, remember loved ones lost, honour those fighting cancer today and pledge to fight back!
By joining us in 2014, you can help make Relay For Life the most successful ever! It is only with the continued support of our participants, donors and volunteers that we can continue to save lives and support people living with cancer right now.
