Hi! I'm Casey Wright.
Did you know it's the 20th anniversary of Cops For Cancer Tour de Coast? That's why I've decided to do something BIG this year. My goal is to raise $50,000 this year to help a cause that means so much to me and my family.
I was diagnosed with cancer at 6 months old and first went to the Canadian Cancer Society's Camp Goodtimes with my family when I was just a few years old. So much of my childhood centres on the experiences and friendships I made at camp. It's the most magical place, like no other. Camp Goodtimes is where I realized that I didn't have to let cancer define me. Camp taught me to believe in myself and helped me become who I am today.
It's been 17 years since I was first diagnosed, and so much of what doctors and scientists know about childhood cancer has changed. There are treatments available now that didn't exist then. I know that more research can help so many kids like me.
The Canadian Cancer Society funds more childhood cancer research than any other cancer charity in the country. And Camp Goodtimes is just one of many support programs they offer to kids, teens and families like mine.
Would you join me in making a special anniversary gift in support of the Canadian Cancer Society? My goal is to raise $50,000 by September 1 to help fuel advancements in childhood cancer research and support programs like Camp Goodtimes. Guess what? Your donation will make double the difference as it will be matched by my friend Rob from the R.G. Heimbecker Foundation who, like me, is a HUGE fan of Camp.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for showing kids and families affected by childhood cancer that they are not alone.
