To all of my friends and family.
It is an honor to once again be a member of the Cops for Cancer Tour De Coast.
2019 is a special anniversary year (25th to be exact) for the cause and I could not
sit on the sidelines for this one !! :)
This year also marks my 11 th year as a rider with Cops for Cancer and I look
forward to seeing what new and exciting things our new group of TdC riders &
organizers do to help spread cancer awareness throughout our communities and
to fundraise for the important research and kids programs.
At our first team meeting earlier in the year I mentioned to fellow riders how I
have had the privilege of seeing members of our junior team (Children who have
had a battle with this disease and have got involved in our cause) grow over the
years. During my first year as a rider in 2009 I recall going to some of their
elementary schools to visit them and even having Jr team member Michelle de
Hass speak at our opening ceremonies that year on behalf of our team ( I will
never forget it). Then fast forward to last year where as a team we never got to visit
with Michelle on tour…….AND THAT IS BECAUSE SHE WAS IN EASTERN CANADA
AT HER FIRST YEAR OF LAW SCHOOL !!!!!!! :).
How could I talk about Junior team riders without mentioning our important friend Casey Wright and his family. In 2009 we had him sitting on our bike handbars at his school (and every year since) and he is now graduating this year from High School..Wow.. Casey, we are SO proud of you !
I could share a lot of awesome stories like the one’s mentioned, but the reality is I
can also share the odd story that hasn't had as happier of a ending. So, on that note as a father, husband, family member, and friend I will ride once more to help fight this terrible disease by spreading the word, by fundraising, and by cycling another 800km in 9 days.
Please consider helping me reach my fundraising goal of $6000.00
