I am participating in the Cops for Cancer 2019 Alumni Ride to support the mission of the Canadian Cancer Society.
Cancer affects us all at some point in our lives. As a rider in 2018, I was able to see directly how it has touched people's lives by visiting different communities in the Lower Mainland and along the Coast (as well as Camp Goodtimes) during the ride and how the Canadian Cancer Society has done so much to make what is scary seem not so.
Most recently - and one of the main reasons why I'm riding this year - is cancer hit my family pretty hard this year as my mom was diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer, Glioblastoma Multiforme, on Christmas 2018. One of the things I've learned since my mom's diagnosis is that people don’t face cancer alone. They face it through the support of immense and caring networks of family, friends, physicians, volunteers and countless others that can make fighting this terrible disease manageable.
The money raised from this event helps fund leading-edge cancer research that is improving cancer treatments, preventing cancer and saving lives; provide reliable and up-to-date information on cancer, risk reduction and treatment; offer vital community-based support services for people living with cancer and their families; and advocate for healthy public policies.
Please pledge me and help me reach my fundraising goal! Every pledge takes us one step further in the fight against cancer. Online pledging is secure and it saves the Canadian Cancer Society money by reducing administrative costs.
Thanks for your support and never give up!
