ABOUT COUNCILLOR MELISSA DE GENOVA
Currently re-elected to serve her second term, in 2014 Melissa De Genova became the first Millennial elected to Vancouver City Council. She is Chair of the City of Vancouver Finance and City Services Committee, and liaison to the Civic Asset Naming Committee, Arts & Culture Advisory Committee, Women’s Advisory Committee, a Metro Vancouver Board Director and serves on the Metro Vancouver Housing Committee. She also previously serving as a Vancouver Park Commissioner. Councillor De Genova has an interest in civic issues and passion for public service that began when she was a child.
Melissa also volunteers her time to many boards and committees including Honour House Society, as a board director, fundraising chair and gala co-chair and she participates annually in Sleep Out for Covenant House. She is a past board director of Moberly Arts and Cultural Centre, and has also volunteered with several charitable organizations, including Odd Squad Productions and the Salvation Army's "Hope in the Inner City" Gala in the Downtown Eastside. In 2016 Business in Vancouver named Councillor De Genova in Vancouver’s “Top Forty under 40” for her experience and leadership in developing affordable housing.
