My name is Aida Rodriguez and I am participating in Cops for Cancer Tour de Coast 2018 to support the mission of the Canadian Cancer Society.
I think it is important to point out that I am NOT an avid cyclist. I can ride a bike and that is about it. My longest ride may have been 5 kilometers at a gingerly pace. So, to say that riding 800 kilometers over a few days is a step out of my comfort zone is an understatement.
However, my temporary discomfort (sore bottom, sore muscles, etc.) is absolutely nothing compared to what people afflicted with cancer endure. I am humbled at the idea of being able to offer my support to them by simply riding a bike. I pledge to work hard and become the 'cyclist' I know I can be because this cause is worth that and so much more.
The money raised from this event helps fund leading-edge cancer research that is improving cancer treatments, preventing cancer and saving lives; provide reliable and up-to-date information on cancer, risk reduction and treatment; offer vital community-based support services for people living with cancer and their families; and advocate for healthy public policies.
So, in reality, while I may be one of the privelaged riders in this event, it is really you, my supporter that provides the means for the research that could save the lives of many men, women and children who fight daily to beat this disease.
Please pledge me and help me reach my fundraising goal! Every pledge takes us one step further in the fight against cancer. Online pledging is secure and it saves the Canadian Cancer Society money by reducing administrative costs.
Thanks for your support!
