I am participating as an Alumni rider in Tour de Coast to support the mission of the Canadian Cancer Society.
I have riden the Tour de Coast 3 times, 2015, 2016, and 2017. I believe this is such an important cause to support and volunteer my time for. This ride has touched my heart in so many ways. The main reason why I rode in the beginning was becasue a very good friend was diagnosed with Cancer when she was young, beat it, and now has 2 healthy beautiful children.
Just before the 2016 start of the the Tour de Coast, a good friend and Adacemy classmate's young child, JJ, was diagnosed with Cancer. That made the ride that much more important and meaningful. When we made the unscheduled tour stop at Children's Hospital to say hello.......all I can say is we were all choked up. I rode again in 2017 for JJ. He has beat this disease now, but must still go for recurring treatments. This is why I need to keep raising money....so families don't have to go through what my friend did and children don't have to go through what JJ did.
The money raised from this event helps fund leading-edge cancer research that is improving cancer treatments, preventing cancer and saving lives; provide reliable and up-to-date information on cancer, risk reduction and treatment; offer vital community-based support services for people living with cancer and their families; and advocate for healthy public policies.
Please pledge me and help me reach my fundraising goal! Every pledge takes us one step further in the fight against cancer. Online pledging is secure and it saves the Canadian Cancer Society money by reducing administrative costs.
Thanks for your support!
