Welcome to my Fundraising Page
Hello, my name is Jamie MacPherson. I am a primary care paramedic with BC Ambulance in 100 Mile House, and I am proud to be a returning rider on the 2017 Cops for Cancer: Tour de Coast team!
My first time being a part of this cause was as a member of the support crew providing medical coverage in 2015. It was such an amazing and awe inspiring experience that the following year, I became a rider.
Chances are you have been affected by cancer in some way, be it you yourself or someone you know. It's a life changing event when a family member, a friend, or perhaps a co-worker is diagnosed with cancer. But by far the worst is when a child receives this news. One of my childhood friends was Avril Chevigny. I met her through gymnastics, and we attended the same elementary school just one grade apart. Avril was diagnosed with Lymphoma and Leukemia at age 6, and lost her fight with cancer at age 8. She was the first person I knew to pass away from cancer.
One of my favorite parts of being involved with Cops for Cancer is meeting BC’s kids who have fought or are currently fighting cancer. It is amazing to see the courage and the resilience of these children, and they need our help in the fight for their life. The money raised through tour goes to fund pediatric cancer research and to a summer camp for these children and their families, named Camp Goodtimes. It truly is a magical place - kids with cancer get to be just kids.
Please pledge me and help me reach my fundraising goal! Every donation makes a difference in the fight against pediatric cancer. Online pledging is secure and it saves the Canadian Cancer Society money by reducing administrative costs.
Thanks for your support!
