Welcome to my Fundraising Page
Hello family and friends! Thank you for visiting my Cops for Cancer webpage. As you might know, I find it a personal challenge to ask for help.. but for this journey, I will need some.
I am participating in the Cops for Cancer 2017 Tour de Coast ride to support the mission of the Canadian Cancer Society. This will be my first ride.. and I'm extremely excited for this opportunity. I will be riding with an amazing group of police officers, sherriffs, CBSA agents, and paramedics to raise money and awareness for kids facing the difficulties that are associated to cancer. The ride will be physically and psychologically demanding, riding over 800 kms in 9 days. However, it will not compare to the difficulties that these kids have to face when they battle for their lives. With that being said, please help.
The money raised from this event helps fund leading-edge cancer research that is improving cancer treatments, preventing cancer and saving lives.
The Cops for Cancer is an avid supporter of Camp Goodtimes, which is a camp in Maple Ridge BC dedicated to kids suffering from cancer. Children going through their cancer journey can go to camp and feel like a "normal" kid, again. The camp has on site medical care so the children can play, make friends and memories without having to leave the camp. Camp Goodtimes is also proactive in supporting the parents and siblings of the affected child. This is an amazing place for these wonderful kids but costs $1500 to send just one kid to camp. I think all kids going through this journey should have an opportunity to experience this incredible place and the money raised will help to do that.
On a personal note, I will be riding this year for my 65 year young mother, a breast cancer survivor, my 95 year young grandmother, a breast cancer survivor and my 58 year young aunt, who is currently battling ovarian cancer. I have the strongest women and role models around me. Cancer continues to impact my family as we all battle and fight to keep our family together. I can't help but think that someday, I will also be impacted by having to fight my own battle. I'm strong and willing if or when that day comes... but for now... please help me on this emotional and physical journey.
Please pledge me and help me reach my fundraising goal! Every pledge takes us one step further in the fight against cancer. Online pledging is secure and it saves the Canadian Cancer Society money by reducing administrative costs.
Thanks for your support!
