I am back again to join in the 2018 Cops For Cancer Tour de Coast in support of the mission of the Canadian Cancer Society. I am very proud and excited to be part of this year's team.
First off, I would like to give a huge thanks to all of you that supported me and my team last year in raising over $600,000 to help kids and families dealing with this disease and to fund research that helps to reduce the harm of treatment and will someday cure cancer.
As many of you know, I lost my mom to stomach cancer in 2016. I thought about her every stroke of the pedal for the more than 800kms on tour. While she was and remains a powerful motivator, my experience on the ride last year and the many amazing people I met along the way really helped to push my fundraising efforts and to lift me up those hills and down the road on my bike. Kids like Kelsey, a strong little girl who lost her eyesight from the harsh effects of chemo in her battle. Or Taylor, who has fought through the disease and wants himself to become an Oncologist and help bring an end to others' suffering. Others, who are alive today only becuase of the money we raise and the resulting advances in treatment
The money raised from this event helps fund leading-edge cancer research that is improving cancer treatments, preventing cancer and saving lives; provide reliable and up-to-date information on cancer, risk reduction and treatment; offer vital community-based support services for people living with cancer and their families; and advocate for healthy public policies. It also helps us send sick kids and affected families to Camp Good Times, a place where kids fighting cancer get a chance to laugh, play, sing and have fun, the way every kid should!
Please pledge me and help me reach my fundraising goal! Every pledge takes us one step further in the fight against cancer. Online pledging is secure and it saves the Canadian Cancer Society money by reducing administrative costs.
Thanks for your support!
