Welcome to Matthew Best's Fundraising Page
Thank you for taking the time to view my fundraising page.
My name is Matthew Best and along with a group of outstanding police officers as well as firefighters, paramedics, and other members of the Vancouver Island community, I have the honour to participate in the 20th Annual Canadian Cancer Society Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock. Over the next few months, my teammates and I will be training three times a week in anticipation of a journey that will consist of over 1000 km to be completed over two weeks.
I have been asked often why I got involved with the Tour de Rock. Every family has been touched in some way by cancer. I have family members who fought cancer who are no longer with us today as well as family who are still fighting. In addition to my family’s experience with cancer, I got involved with the Tour de Rock because of the Junior Team.
Along with the Tour de Rock team, there is a team of Junior Riders made up of incredibly brave kids who are in the midst of their own battles. My Junior Rider is Roane Abbott-Haines, who last year was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia and has since been undergoing treatments to fight this disease. It is the strength of children like Roane that motivates me to do everything I can to make a difference.
Each Junior Rider will have the opportunity to go to Camp Goodtimes, where they can enjoy being kids while medical treatment is made available on site. To send a single child to Camp Goodtimes, it costs $1500 - I’m hoping, with your help, to send as many kids to camp as I can.
Please show your support in any form you can. My teammates and I will be hosting a variety of fundraising events in the coming months. You can also follow the team and our journey on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/tourderockmatt/?ref=aymt_homepage_panel

Thank you for your support, and together we can make a difference in the fight against cancer.
