Welcome to Jill Bonnet's Tour De Rock
I am honoured and excited to participate in the 20th Anniversary of the Canadian Cancer Society Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock! I am part of a team of 24 police officers, firefighters and paramedics representing communities from all over beautiful Vancouver Island. Over the course of two weeks, we will cycle just over 1000 KM to raise awareness and funds for children battling cancer.
Prior to joining the RCMP, I attended the University of Victoria and played rugby for the James Bay Women's rugby team. I have a very fond memory of playing rugby against a Victoria Police Officer who was participating in the Tour De Rock. Hoping to pursue a career in Law Enforcement myself, I was very inspired by this woman and set a goal to one day participate in a Cops for Cancer event myself. The first eleven years of my career were spent working and living in the Lower Mainland. Having recently transferred to the Island, I am very excited to be finally pursuing this goal.
The effects of cancer seem to touch everyone and I am no different, knowing many family and friends who have been affected by the disease. While working in the Lower Mainland, I had the opportunity to work in a Child Abuse and Sexual Offences Unit. Following up on many of my investigations, I attended the BC Children's Hospital. I was always struck by the sick children being cared for at the hospital. Witnessing the children battling illnesses, injuries and disease (cancer) was always a very heart wrenching experience. My participation in the Tour de Rock is a way that I can personally support a very valuable cause.
Please donate generously, every little bit helps! Every $1500 sends another child to Camp Goodtimes. Let's send as many kids as possible!!
