Many riders have varying reasons and passions that have led them to the Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock, for Ben Leah it all started with his childhood. Ben grew up in Victoria as a very active kid. Everything from soccer to hiking, camping on the beautiful Hornby island with family, to skiing and snowboarding at Mt Washington.
“I belief that all children deserve the chance to have fun and wonderful childhoods spent enjoying the outdoors and all the activities it has to offer”.
After having experienced aunts, uncles, and cousins struggling with cancer and even losing their lives to it Ben saw what it meant to not just lose the chance at a happy childhood but also the vast and irreparable effects cancer has on its victims and their families.
So Ben decided to combine his passion for preserving kids rights to a happy fun childhood and wanting to fight cancer by joining Tour de Rock and their fight to give kids the kind of wonderful outdoor adventures they deserve and the chance to beat cancer.
The money raised from this event helps fund leading-edge cancer research that is improving cancer treatments, preventing cancer and saving lives; provide reliable and up-to-date information on cancer, risk reduction and treatment; offer vital community-based support services for people living with cancer and their families; and advocate for healthy public policies.
Please pledge me and help me reach my fundraising goal! Every pledge takes us one step further in the fight against cancer. Online pledging is secure and it saves the Canadian Cancer Society money by reducing administrative costs.
It's a real honour and privilege for Ben to be on the Tour de Rock 2018 team and he hopes you will join him by donating and helping fundraise to end cancer for kids. Let's bring back the joy of summer and childhood for all!
Thanks for your support!
