Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
I have been a member of the Saanich Police Department since 2016, but even before I became a police officer I wondered when I would get the chance to ride as a member of a Tour de Rock team. When I was in high school a member of the Saanich Police Department visited my school to raise awareness about the cause and to do a head-shaving. I remember when, a few weeks later, the entire team rode through my school's parking lot as teachers and students cheered them on. A few years later, in 2016, I was fortunate enough to be handed my offer of employment letter from that same member who visited my school years earlier. Since then I have been waiting for my turn to be part of Tour de Rock. My turn has come.
While I do not have children of my own, I look at children who have suffered or who are suffering from cancer and I can only imagine how hard it must be to have their childhood taken away at such a young age. My grandmother was diagnosed with lung cancer a few years ago and has been battling it ever since. While Tour de Rock is a big commitment for the riders, it is a drop in the bucket compared to what other people have gone through or are going through. I am riding this year so that hopefully I can make a difference in at least one child's life.
Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock has made significant improvements in the lives of children with cancer, as well as their families over the past 20 years. I know that with your donation this cause will continue to change lives and increase the survivability rate amongst cancer patients.
Thank you for your support,
