Cops for Cancer - Tour de Rock 2017

Chris Day's Team

My name is Chris Day, I am a Fire Fighter with CFB Esquimalt Fire Rescue and have been selected as a special guest rider for this years 20th Anniversary Canadian Cancer Society Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock team.

The Tour de Rock is such a powerful event that has always held a spot close to my heart. I have lived through the toll that childhood cancer takes on a family and I wouldn’t wish it upon anyone. My brother Andrew was diagnosed with Leukemia when he was 7 years old. Despite the pain he was feeling from all the treatments he received, or the sadness he must have felt from missing his friends and family, he always maintained a positive attitude and never complained. Throughout his illness, Andrew attended Camp Goodtimes on two occasions. It truly was a place where he forgot about his cancer and could just be a kid. Unfortunately Andrew was unable to beat Leukemia, but his strength and memory forever lives on in our hearts.

I am riding because Andrew can't. I am riding so that I can continue to fight for those that no longer can, so that those who currently are fighting can fight with hope, and so that one day cancer won't be a fight that any child has to bear.

Thank you for your support and donations towards reaching my goal.
