Spectrum Community School

We are proudly participating in the 2017 Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock.

This past school year we were invited to be a part of this wonderful event as the riders rode back into Victoria after cycling over 1000 km across Vancouver Island. You will remember that Spectrum parent Mena Westhaver (pictured third from the left) was one of the riders, mother to junior rider Jack. The assembly in October was magic, as we presented a cheque for over $20,000, although our final total was over $23,000! Check out the highlights here:

This year the riders are coming again, and Cole Brewer, partner of one of our teachers at Spectrum and an RCMP officer with the Langford detachment, is one of the riders. Cole lost his own father 5 years ago to cancer. Daisy Irwin, the junior rider he has been paired up with, was diagnosed with 2 types of Leukemia at 10 weeks old, and also recently lost her father to colon cancer.

We all have our stories and reasons for donating to cancer research. Please consider pledging us and help us reach our fundraising goal! Every pledge takes us one step further in the fight against cancer. Online pledging is secure and it saves the Canadian Cancer Society money by reducing administrative costs.

Thanks for your support!
