Hello, my name is James Cho and I am an Auxiliary Constable with the Niagara Regional Police Service. I am looking to fundraise a total amount of $3000.00 to contribute to The Canadian Cancer Society – Cops for Cancer: Tour de Golden Horseshoe. I, along with other law enforcement and emergency responders, will ride 400 km over the course of 4 days in the month of September (18th-21st) to engage communities on-route in raising money for childhood cancer research and support services for The Canadian Cancer Society.
This is an important cause to me personally because most of us, if not all of us; have been affected by cancer one way or another. Mine was back in 2012, when my best friend’s father passed away from cancer. He was a man full of life, full of energy and one of the most compassionate man I have ever met. I remember visiting him when he was admitted to a local hospice and it was not fair to see him laying there, he did not have the strength to speak but he gave me the biggest smile that I will cherish forever.
He is the reason why I am riding this September and for everyone else so that they do not have to feel the loss of a loved one, especially for the parents who have children diagnosed with childhood cancer.
The money raised from this event helps fund leading-edge cancer research that is improving cancer treatments, preventing cancer and saving lives; provide reliable and up-to-date information on cancer, risk reduction and treatment; offer vital community-based support services for people living with cancer and their families; and advocate for healthy public policies.
Please pledge me and help me reach my fundraising goal! Every pledge takes us one step further in the fight against cancer. Online pledging is secure and it saves the Canadian Cancer Society money by reducing administrative costs.
Thanks for your support!
