It is with profound sadness that the family of Hélène Lang announces her passing on January 30, 2020 at the age of 59. Following a long and courageous battle with breast cancer, Hélène passed away surrounded by her family at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton, NB. Born in Rouyn-Noranda, QC, on June 29, 1960, she was the beloved wife and high school sweetheart of Wayne Lang of Island View, NB.
In addition to her husband, Hélène leaves behind her children, Aaron and Amber Lang; grandchildren, Grayson and Cohen Cooper; brother, Robert Schmidt (Marlene); sisters, Carole Valin (Richard) and Suzanne Schmidt; stepsiblings, Gilbert Lemieux (Monique); as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Hélène was predeceased by her parents, Gerhard and Roselyne (Gamache) Schmidt; stepmother, Franciella (Racicot) Schmidt; stepbrothers, Daniel and Richard Lemieux.
Hélène had a passion for life and never took a day for granted. She had many interests, including reading, gardening, hiking and painting. She loved to travel near and far, even while dealing with her disease. She was an outstanding home chef and enjoyed entertaining her many guests. She retired as a Human Resource Consultant at the University of New Brunswick in 2012 and maintained many friendships with her former colleagues. She touched so many lives with her beautiful heart and bright spirit. Above all, her family was her everything. Her legacy lives on in her children and grandchildren.
