Welcome to my Kayaking Journey 2019
Sadly, most people have a story of how Cancer has impacted thier lives. Perhaps it involves a friend, a family member or a loved one who has battled the disease or perhaps it is one fighting Cancer themself. My story involves my mother Bev Pierog who passed away after a brave battle with lung cancer. During her fight she showed no signs of ever giving up and continued to be a joy in my life and especially in the lives of her grand children. When she was diagnosed she was asked to name some things she enjoyed and that were important to her. Without hesitation she replied "My Family." She was the type of mother who showed me unwavering support and was an amazing, loving and inspiring grandmother to all of her grandchildren. Just when you thought she had no more love to give, she would give me another hug or a loving phone call just to chat. Although it has been a couple of years since she lost her battle with Cancer, her positive impact continues to be felt by her friends and family. We all miss her dearly and think about her every day. My two sons always speak fondly of the great times they had with their MAMA and of how much they miss her.
I am taking on the challenge to paddle the Rideau Canal from Kingston to Ottawa in memory of my mother and to hoepfully change the future of this disease for my friends, family and Canadians nationwide.
Please donate today and help me reach my fundraising goal! The money raised will help Canada’s brightest researchers make groundbreaking discoveries, provide cancer patients with much-needed support services and ensure that other life-changing work is possible.
