Time for the Mayor to get a haircut!
I am a Cancer Fighter. I am taking action to change the future of this disease for my friends, family and Canadians nationwide. I am raising awareness and funds for the fight against cancer with a donation of my hair and a fundraising campaign for cancer research. I hope I can count on your support!
Cancer touches many people’s lives, in many different ways, of course no different in my family. At a young age, I watched my mother and her battle with cancer – the radiation, her hair loss, and more. When I was young, I remember how my mother loved the natural curls I had. For many year I kept my hair short and close to keep the curls at bay with thanks to my lifetime barber, Claudette of Willy’s Barber shop. When I first decided to grow my hair for a wig it was during the time my barber was going through her own cancer battle.
The first cut was in April 2014 at Oxford County Admin building in honour of my mother with Claudette helping as donors took turns cutting the locks. Together we raised awareness and almost $3,000.
After being elected to the role of Mayor of Woodstock, the curls came back and the second cancer cut happened in December of 2015 in Woodstock city hall again in honour of my mother with Claudette overseeing the donors use of the scissors. This cut raised over $3,000 for cancer research.
You are invited to participate in this third cut at the 2018 Cancer Relay on June 8th at the Terry Fox track, together with our community survivors and community champion, my friend Brian Donlevy.
Please donate today and help me reach my fundraising goal! The money raised will help Canada’s brightest researchers make groundbreaking discoveries, provide cancer patients with much-needed support services and ensure that other life-changing work is possible!
Proceeds from my fundraiser will support Wherever the need is greatest
