Paddling For Parker
We are kayaking to honour our grandson Parker Simpson. Parker was a very active boy; he loved being outdoors and loved the water, especially swimming and kayaking. He got his own small kayak for his fifth birthday.
Parker was diagnosed with T-cell Non-Hodgkins Lymphoblastic Lymphoma in January 2016 when he was in second grade. He underwent emergency surgery at CHEO in Ottawa, then received chemotherapy in Kingston for nine months. Parker's cancer returned in a more agressive form in November 2016, and he went to the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto for additional treatment.
In January 2017 we were told that the treatment had not been successful, and Parker returned to Kingston where he passed away on February 8, 2017. He was just eight years old.
This summer we are Kayaking for Cancer from Kingston to Ottawa on the Rideau Canal from August 11 to 18. All funds that we raise will be donated to Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma cancer research. Thanks for your support to help a worthy cause.
