Let's do it for the Dads!
6 Years ago, my good friend Brian started the Face off for Fathers hockey tournament, and over this time his event has raised over $110,000 for Canada Cancer research. This spring I am once again joining the cause to help add to that total and do what I can to take us us one step further in the fight against cancer.
The theme of the event has always been to honour fathers that have supported youth development through hockey and other sporting endeavours. As a young father I feel it is important to try to pay respects to the men who shaped me and some of the most important pope in my life. Men like both of my best Friends Fathers, Alex and Brad, both who passed too soon from Cancer and Mens Health related issues. Men like my uncle Harold who has been fiercely battling Esophageal Cancer for the last 3 years, and especially my own Stepfather, Glenn, who fought and beat Prostate Cancer and has been Cancer free for over 10 Years.
I’m aiming to raise $500 to help the tournament achieve its goal of $20,000 in 2018, with 100% going to Canadian Cancer Society. The money raised from this event helps fund leading-edge cancer research that is improving cancer treatment; offer vital community-based support services for people living with cancer and their families; and advocate for healthy public policy.
There are 2 ways for you to participate, donate online or attend in person (if you are in the TO area). Online pledging on the link above is secure, tax receipts are generated automatically, and it saves the Canadian Cancer Society money by reducing admin cost.
