Welcome to Foreign Affair Winery's Fundraising Page
In Support of the Niagara Wheels of Hope Transportation Program
Foreign Affair Winery is raising money for people in our community with cancer and their families by supporting the Canadian Cancer Society's Wheels of Hope Transportation Program.
Throughout the year we will host fundraising events to help us reach our goal and invite you to join us by donating here online.
1 in 5 people are unable to get to life saving cancer treatments which is why the Wheels of Hope Transportation program is so vital in our community. Last year alone, Niagara volunteers provided 13,192 rides to 560 local cancer patients, including families who have a child with cancer. Covering 12 municipalities from Fort Erie through Grimsby, volunteers travelled 662,552 kilometers.
Foreign Affair Winery – Vineland, Ontario
Foreign Affair Winery is known for hand-crafted bold red wines, and elegant white wines made in the appassimento method. The winery is renowned for pioneering this technique – whereby the grapes are dried after harvest for 4-6 months – here in Canada.
Founders Len and Marisa Crispino fell in love with appassimento, or, Amarone wines during their time spent as expats in Northern Italy. When they returned home to Canada they thought one day to pursue their dream of applying this technique to Niagara grown grapes.
Len soon faced daunting health struggles, and he and Marisa decided it was time to give their dreams shape. In 2000 taking a leap of faith, they purchased 40 acres of farmland in Vineland and planted vines with the intention to dry their first harvest. By the time they were ready to open their tasting room doors, Len was in remission. Today the winery continues to offer exceptional wines, the team always inspired by the Crispino’s passion, tenacity, and hope.
