Fundraising honor roll

The time has come..

After four long years the time has come for me to cut my hair. As many know, the journey all started in 2013 when I watched Thor for the very first time and fell infatuated with the thought of having long hair, ultimately developing a superhero crush. That halloween I dressed as Thor, using my sisters extensions to fill in the locks that were missing. Now a days, I have more hair than him in any of the movies. What started out as a seemingly meaningless trek to look like the Son of Odin, has now turned into something much more than that. My family has had a substantial history of cancer, with members beating ovarian, testicular, and prostate to name a few. However, my Uncle is currently fighting pancreatic cancer, and the odds are looking grim. The issue with pancreatic cancer is that the symptoms rarely show up in the early stages, and the ones specific enough to suggest a problem with the pancreas do not develop until the disease has reached an advanced stage. The diagnosis for pancreatic cancer itself offers a blow to morale as it has been shown that only 25% of people will survive past 1 year after diagnosis, and 5% survive past 5 years. Since his diagnosis, my Uncle has been fighting a good fight and has been an exemplary model of how strong and resilient one man can be.

At this point, I figure now is as good a time as ever to fundraise. I will be cutting my hair on September 5th 2017 and plan to donate all of the funds raised to pancreatic research. The money raised from this event helps the Society fund leading-edge cancer research, advocate for healthy public policies, offer vital community-based support services for people living with cancer and their families, and provide reliable and up-to-date information on cancer, risk reduction and treatment.

Although I must give up the dream of fighting battles to save Asgard, I can support in fighting the battle against cancer.

Please pledge me and help me reach my fundraising goal of 2000$.

Every donation takes us one step further in the fight against cancer. Online pledging is secure and it saves the Canadian Cancer Society money by reducing administrative costs.

Thank you for your support.
