In August I had the idea to shave my hair off to raise money for cancer research and support. I will be turning 10 on January 26, and I think that my 10th birthday would be a great day to finally do it because turning 10 is a pretty big deal.
I decided to do this because it was a good way to help people with cancer. In my family, we have been affected by cancer a few times so I'm raising money in memory of these people. Melissa Thorne was a close friend of our family and in 2014 she passed away from cancer at the age of 34. My great uncle, Ray Babstock, died in 2016 from pancreatic cancer. And I just found out that my great grandfather, Nathaniel Thorne, died of stomach cancer 41 years ago.
Cancer affects families and communities all over Canada and I hope that the money I raise will help these the Canadian Cancer Society to find a cure for cancer, buy equipment the patients might need in treatment, or to help make them comfortable when they are feeling sick.
Please pledge me and help me reach my fundraising goal! Every pledge takes us one step further in the fight for life. Online pledging is secure and saves the Canadian Cancer Society money by reducing administrative costs.
Thanks for your support!
