Fundraising honor roll
Ms. Kiersten Cormier
As some of you may know, our family is no stranger to cancer, however this Christmas cancer hit a little closer to home when my mother was diagnosed with two different types of Breast Cancer. With the new year brought a new road to recovery. We stayed in NL with her until her surgery but we eventually had to return to NS. It has been hard being away from my family during this time but I know my mother is surrounded by loving, caring and supportive family, friends and community including the Canadian Cancer Society. All of which I have been incredibly grateful for.
Since the beginning of her journey to recovery, we have seen first hand the wonderful and generous work the Canadian Cancer Society and have come to understand just how important donations such as these are in order for them to continue their work of making this process a little more bearable and a little less stressful.
In conclusion I would like to offer my thanks and appreciation by holding a small fundraiser. At first I wanted to donate my hair to those affected by hair loss as a result from cancer, however because my hair is bleached none of the Canadian companies will accept my hair donation. Instead we decided to raise money through a hair cutting fundraiser. Once we reach our goal of $500 I have agreed to let my fiancé Stephen (with no hair cutting skills) to cut my very long hair (which I have been growing out for the last 4 years) to shoulder length. We will be uploading a video of the process on my social media pages once this is done. We will also be donating my hair to a company in the UK "Little Princess Trust" who provides wigs to children suffering from hair loss as a result of cancer treatment.
I would like to extend my sincere thank you for any donation and support as every little bit counts.
