#Why I Relay:
A group of us from Jamieson Laboratories Ltd., joined together in June 2008 to participate in the Relay for Life on behalf of our co-worker Gary Charlton. He had participated with his family, and had always spoken of the event with such passion. Once I joined, I understood exactly how he felt.
Although I joined a new team a few years ago, to walk with my friend Karen, who we will all miss this year, I will never forget it was Gary who introduced me to the Relay for Life.
During the Relay for Life, we walk through the Luminaries that lights the path for us throughout the night. There are many luminaries purchased, each representing an individual, some in memory of ones lost, many are to celebrate survivors and to support those who are still battling cancer. On Friday, June 7, 2019, it is my opportunity to remember my family, friends, and co-workers, who have lost their life, to celebrate those who have dealt with various types of cancer, and to show my support to those who are now going through treatment of this terrible disease.
It is amazing to see the young children, teenagers, and adults of all ages who have joined together to raise funds for the Relay for Life. Last year for the first time since I have been involved, it was a young girl who had raised the most funds to help us reach our goal of $80,000.00. We were all so proud of her.
Please help me to reach my goal of $500.00 for the 2019 Relay for Life. Through raising funds for research, education, early detection and support programs, we hope one day soon to eradicate cancer and enhance the quality of life for those who have to deal with it. We all know someone who has or had cancer, but the good news is that with your help, we now know more people who are winning the battle.
Thank you in advance for your support
