We have decided to resurrect our Relay for Life team after a few years break. They say nearly 1 in 2 Canadians are expected to be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. That means half of our family and friends will hear the words “you have cancer” at some point in their lives. We are at the half way mark already. Dad was diagnosed and treated successfully for bladder cancer quite a few years ago. Then in 2017 my sister was diagnosed with colon cancer in January and my mom was diagnosed with cancer in June. My sister had surgery, followed by 12 rounds of chemo and is doing amazingly well now (aside from the residual effects of chemo and the stress of ongoing tests, scans and follow ups). Mom was so full of cancer when they diagnosed her they were unable to pinpoint the primary source. She passed away less than three weeks after being diagnosed. This will be my 12th Relay.
