Nearly 1 in 2 Canadians are expected to be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. That means half of our family and friends will hear the words “you have cancer” at some point in their lives. Join us in taking action to help create a world where no Canadian has to fear this disease.
Our Community 4-H Club Team is very excited about participating in the 2019 Canadian Cancer Society Relay For Life because WE BELIEVE that every step we take in Relay raises money to help the Canadian Cancer Society save lives.
All the 4-H participants have had someone that has been touched by cancer--please help to make cancer history!
This is the 13th year the Community 4-H Club has participated in the Woodstock Relay for Life. In the past 12 years we have raised over $114,800.00. In the past 7 years the Team has raised over $10,000 each year--we have achieved these goals thanks to your support.
The team has been busy since July 2018 to raise money by selling pop & water at the Embro Tractor Pull, 4-H displays at fairs, bale decorating contest at Woodstock Fair, helping with Woodstock Choralaire setup & takedown, serving snacks at Embro Thistle Theatre, Poinsettia plant fundraiser and collecting electronic scrap, pop cans & other returnable bottles/cans to be cashed in. Members also collect pledges.
To date the Team has raised over $5,100 for the 2019 Relay for Life, although this does not all show on our webpage at this time. This makes a total of over $119,900 over the 13 years.
This year we are striving to raise $11,000 which means we have raised over $125,000 in 13 years. We are also wanting to get 100 luminaries and the team is committed to walk 180 km at the Relay for Life while supporting those who are battling Cancer and those who have lost their battle with Cancer.
Even though the team works to achieve their goals--we still need to achieve the goal of finding a cure for Cancer and continue to raise money to support those affected with Cancer. Please continue to donate money to help make Cancer history.
4-H is a youth leadership development program and this is an excellent opportunity to show what they have been learning. Inspiring the youth in our communities, makes better citizens in our communities.
4-H Pledge: I Pledge My Head to clearer thinking, My Heart to greater loyalty, My Hands to larger service, My Health to better living For my club, my community and my country.
