Welcome to My Fundraising Page!
Makena and I will be once again “walking” in the CIBC Run for the Cure and again asking for your generous support. Our team, Carin’ for Karen, has raised over $200,000 to fight breast cancer and we look forward to adding to this amazing accomplishment again this year.
I am happy to share with you that last year our team captain won a national award called “The Cash, Sweat & Tears Award” based on her success with fundraising one dollar at a time and growing her team into the mighty crew it is today.
Why do I do the Run for the Cure…..I continue to run/walk for my dear friends Karen and Christine who are currently fighting this horrific disease. I also run/walk for my friends, niece, sister, mother, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, aunts, grandmother, co-workers and my sweet incredible daughter.
Unfortunately Karen has had a difficult year in terms of her health. Karen’s cancer has spread to her lungs and liver and she is undergoing weekly chemotherapy. Her cancer is stable but one of her latest scans shows a blood clot in her lung. This means more medication and another procedure. Although all of her treatment is taking a toll on her physically and mentally she continues to fight for her three beautiful kids, Katie, Brandon & Julia. Despite her on going health issues she continues to live life to the fullest.
Christine is still doing remarkably well! She still continues her treatments every month. Despite this, she has managed to teach full-time, continues to travel as much as she can and also lives every day to its fullest. Christine’s cancer is also not curable; however, it certainly has not slowed her down one little bit.
I am truly hopeful with your support and with the ever changing world of science that a ground breaking cure will be found for Karen, Christine and the far too many other women fighting this horrible disease.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much in advance for your kind support and generosity.
