Welcome to My Fundraising Page!
As many of you know my mom has breast as well as lung cancer and during treatments and after her surgeries she struggled. Today is her birthday and I am happy to say other then having a scare last August on her other breast she is doing really well.
My mom went thru a hard time not doing regular checks and in Oct 2015 found that she had stage 4 breast cancer. Treatment started quickly to try and shrink the tumor before surgery, but she ran into issues with her blood count and thankfully with Victory to help pay she went on another drug to help with the blood cells (sorry forget what it is called but would cost $2000 each dose). Only to have the side affect of her bones feeling like they were being crushed and she was in the hospital in pain. Thru multiple tests they also found that she had lung cancer but would put treatment and surgery on hold.
For my mom who had long blonde hair losing it was heart breaking! She tried going in stages and getting it cut first but when it falls out she would says it was painful and decided to shave her head instead of watching it come out in clumps. The cancer clinic was excellent in providing different wigs to help with the process of hair loss.
In May 2016 she went for surgery and had her one breast removed, seeing her comes out of surgery is a day I will never forget! Unfortunately the incision would not heal and she ended in the hospital MANY times for weeks with, it wasn't til Oct the they finally fixed the opening and it healed. That year she spent Christmas in the hospital and coming home just before New Years. To this day she still has pain in her chest from the nerves that were cut.
Nov 2016 she went and had the lung cancer removed and this process went well until she had an allergic reaction to the medicine and the crash cart had to come in and spent a couple days in ICU.
There has been many ambulance rides and hospital stays in between and with low blood pressure and code blues in her journey, but with the both cancers under control and only having to deal with diabites and some pain she is doing well.
She is a strong women and had great support from family and friends.
So will my beautiful daughter leading the team and our experience with cancer I thought today being moms birthday was the perfect day to share and celebrate how well she is doing. So if you can and willing please sponsor our team.
Thanks in advance for your support!
