Welcome to My Fundraising Page!
I’m dusting off my running shoes to participate in the CIBC 5k on October 6th.
My family has had a long history of breast cancer. I have seen over the years of what good has come from the life-saving research to change the future of breast cancer. My great grandma & grandma passed away at a stage of cancer that was not detected early . My mum was diagnosed at an early stage due to regular screening and preventative measures. She has been cancer free since 2012, something we celebrate every year! Genetic testing is now able to test certain strains that are most commonly passed along in family genetics. Luckily for my sister and I , we do not carry that gene but this does not stop us from being regularly tested and our own health advocates.
The day my mum was diagnosed in 2012, was the start of my first day at Kearl (flying from Hamilton to site- project days). She didn’t want to tell me that she was diagnosed and would be going into surgery in less than a month. She didn’t want me to give up the opportunity of my new career and as many of you know, be away from your loved ones in a time of need. Little did we know I would still be working with Kearl to this day. My mum must have known things were going to work out for the both of us.
I have been very blessed in the opportunity to give back to a charity that has provided me and my family much needed support. I will be able to live a longer and healthier life with the work that the Canadian Cancer Society has been doing. Please donate to my link below or come out and run with us.
