Cancer affects us all!

This year Stayner Collegiate Institute has decided to run a Cops/Cuts for Cancer fundraising campaign from May 23rd to June 15th, 2012. We acknowledge the devastating impact cancer has had and continues to have on the lives of staff, students, family and community members of Stayner and surrounding areas. Our goal is to raise $7000. Be sure to come back to this page weekly to check out our pictures, the blog and our fundraising progress as we work towards this very significant challenge. So far we've had 5 volunteers come forward to motivate our community. At $1000.00 Constable Stadig will shave his head. At $2500, Ms. Rusnak will shave her's. At $3500, Mr. Murray will shave his hair. At $5000, Mr. Dickson will lose his locks and last but not least, Ms. Ellerby (our VP) represents our goal of $7000. We have recently been advised of changes related to the hair cutting rules...anyone who wishes to participate by donating cut hair must have 8 inches to donate, however it no longer matters if your hair is treated. Companies have developed a new product which allows the Wigs for Kids program to use both natural and treated hair. If you are interested in participating or would like to be involved in some capacity, please don't hesitate to contact Ms. Rusnak at the school (705) 428-2639, ext.42858. Thanks for your support!

If you happen to be in the neighbourhood, our shave-off/cut will take place outside the main doors on Friday, June 15th at 11:15am. Please feel free to stop by and celebrate our success with us as many staff and students lose their locks:) GO SPARTANS!!!

Help us make cancer history!

We are participating in a community-based fundraising event to support the mission of the Canadian Cancer Society. The money raised from this event helps fund leading-edge cancer research that is improving cancer treatments, preventing cancer and saving lives; provides reliable and up-to-date information on cancer, risk reduction and treatment; offers vital community-based support services for people living with cancer and their families; and advocates for healthy public policies.

Please pledge us and help us to reach our fundraising goal!

Every pledge takes us one step further in the fight against cancer. Online pledging is secure and it saves the Canadian Cancer Society money by reducing administrative costs.

To make a donation now, you can click on the blue "Donate to SCI Cops" button just below the picture and to the right of this message OR you can click on the "make a donation" link at the bottom of the fundraising thermometer (again to the right of this message).

If you want to read more about how your donation helps, select the "Where your money goes" link above.

Thanks again for your support!

Sincerely,

the SCI Spartans
