Welcome to Samantha Donald's Fundraising Page
As you may know since January of this year, I have been running in some races and even finished my first marathon. Running before has always been a place to take the time for my self, reflect and burn off some stress. Since then I have learned about pacing and times and have enjoyed the whole ambience around the running life. I have entered in my next big races, (with smaller ones along the journey) the Socita Bank and Road2hope marathons. I have decided not only to run but to raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society. I specially choose this organization due to the fact Cancer has touched my life in so many ways. Cancer has not touched me on a physical level but many ways on a personal level. My friends, uncles, aunts, my grandmother and the man that means more then this world to me.. my father. I can't even start to explain the emotions I have been through as an outsider without cancer looking in. Let alone being able to understand what someone with cancer goes through, thinks about. One thing I've learn is it never really goes away. Even though my dad is a survivor he still talks about "I still have cancer". Sooo I want to make a difference! For my loved ones, who I've lost that have been so dear to me and to support the ones that have fought through it. Supporting the fighters, admiring the survivors, honouring the taken and never giving up hope for a cure. I will be training for these too races in the honour and dedication to them.
The money raised from these events helps fund leading-edge cancer research that is improving cancer treatments, preventing cancer and saving lives; provide reliable and up-to-date information on cancer, risk reduction and treatment; offer vital community-based support services for people living with cancer and their families; and advocate for healthy public policies.
If anyone is in Toronto that day or running the race I would love to see you!
Thanks for your support!
